Maggie
Boogaart - Choreographer / Dancer / Teacher
Maggie trained at London Contemporary Dance School (London)
and the Martha
Graham School (NYC), after which she worked as a dancer and
guest-choreographer
with 15 modern dance companies in the Netherlands, New York
City and Spain as
well as fusion-projects with, among others, a traditional
South-Indian dance
company, a theatre company and a fashion designer. In
addition, she founded
Dragon Productions in 1994, which enables her to create her
own dance-theatre
productions with the collaboration of composers, actors,
break-dancers, poets etc.
In her work she tries to reach the audience by using the
different tools at her
disposal to move and be moved, all resting solidly on a
strong base in dance as a
medium of communication & expression from her rich movement
background
through all her artistic collaborations and strong training
in the Graham technique.
In her classes she trains dancers to become technically
powerful, flexible and
expressive performers. Since 1999 Maggie has been a free
lance teacher for
professional dancers in modern companies such as United-C
(Tilburg-NL), dance
studios for professionals like ‘Centre de danse du Marais’
(Paris-F) and young
professionals at the dance academy of Amsterdam, Tilburg,
Rotterdam, including
their pre-academy program for gifted teenagers.
